Charter Cost Estimates

If you are traveling from an airport with scheduled airline service that flies from your departure airport directly to your destination airport you will most likely save money by flying on an airline. Some air taxi fares for commonly flown routes may approach the cost of some last minute coach airline fares but this will not be common until more air taxis are available.
The prime benefits of Air Taxi and Air Charter over scheduled airlines are Time Savings, Personal Service and Convenience. If these benefits are valuable to you then you've come to the right place.
We incorporate a cost estimation tool into the Travel Request submission process. Enter your itinerary and the system will give you a range of expected prices for your trip. Below is an example for a trip of 1,636 miles .
Pricing Details The table above shows estimates for your requested trip based on entire aircraft charter and does not represent any particular aircraft. Speeds and ranges may vary by 15% or more. Here is an article
that explains the difference in pricing between air taxi and air
charter. Actual prices may vary by
market and are subject to availability. Additional Costs If
the aircraft is not based at the
airport of departure there may be repositioning fees to bring the
aircraft in to pick you up. These costs may be substantial if the
aircraft must reposition from a far away airport. It is best if
you can find an aircraft that will be going your way. If
you are planning a one day trip to
return the same day your aircraft will likely remain with you to bring
you back home. In this case you'll be charged a waiting fee for
the crew. Also realize that the crew has rest limitations which
are mandated by the FAA and are for your own safety. If
your plans are to remain overnight and
leave the next morning you may be charged for a hotel room for the
crew and possibly an overnight parking charge for the aircraft,
depending on local policy. If your plans are to remain for an extended stay of 2 days or more then the aircraft may be flown back to it's home base empty. In this case you will likely be charged half the normal charge for repositioning fees when the aircraft goes home and when it comes to pick you up again for your return trip. This can be very expensive and it is where our services at Taxijet.com can really make a big difference in the bottom line. If you can find an empty flight going your way you could save a great deal of money by getting on that flight instead of hiring another aircraft. If the aircraft is already scheduled to pick up another paying passenger you wouldn't need to pay the repositioning fees. It may be worth a look at our MT Leg Bulletin board where we encourage operators to post available empty legs. Most aircraft operators require a two hour per day minimum utilization averaged over the term of your trip. For example if you book a trip from Santa Monica to Phoenix on Monday morning and returning the same day you will spend about 2.3 hours in the aircraft for the day. In this case there would be no extra charges on your trip. However, if you plan the same trip leaving on Monday morning but with a return on Tuesday evening you would still spend about 2.3 hours in the airplane but the operator would bill you for an additional 1.7 hours of flight time to cover the cost of the aircraft waiting time. This is a standard industry practice. Your travel location, date and time flexibility may play into the prices and quantity of bids you receive to service your request. If you must travel from a specific airport on a certain day at a certain time then an aircraft may need to be repositioned in an inefficient manner to meet your rigid schedule. On the other hand, if your travel location, date and times are flexible the aircraft operator will have more leeway in selecting an aircraft that is headed your way. The emerging business model of Air Taxi will help reduce costs by pairing your return leg with a different aircraft even for same day returns. This will limit the aircrew waiting times and make better utilization of the aircraft. The difference for the passenger is that you might accept two bids. One would be for the first leg of your journey with company A and the other bid would come from Company B to bring you home. The good part is that you would not need to pay for the aircraft repositioning, aircrew hotels or overnight parking fees. There
may be other charges associated
with your trip such as landing/parking fees, taxes, catering costs,
ground transportation costs etc. Costs
can vary substantially from one
aircraft type to another and from one operator to another.
Factors include: age of the aircraft, cost of fuel, cost of hangar
space, crew costs, utilization rate of the aircraft and a host of other
variables. As a traveler you should not be overly concerned with
all of the variables but we want you to understand how they play into
the prices bid for your Travel Request. As
you evaluate costs keep in mind
that the distance traveled factors into efficiency as well. A
trip of 200 miles would not take advantage of the great range
capability of a Heavy Jet and would be an inefficient use of that
aircraft. Likewise a 2,000 mile trip in a light piston airplane
would not only take quite a long while but it would necessitate several
enroute stops for fuel and bathroom breaks. Each additional stop
will add time and cost to the trip. Estimating the price of on demand air transportation is a complex task involving many variables, each of which can have dramatic impact on the bottom line. Aviation professionals use every tool at their disposal to keep these costs low without compromising safety. Your part as a consumer is to travel with the best Charter / Air Taxi Operators you can find at the best price. It's called "shopping." Think of Taxijet.com as a display case of fine travel options where you can view all the available merchandise in one place and make an informed selection based on criteria that are important to you. Safety
should never be
compromised. Comfort and style may be a major consideration
for some where others may place a higher value on overall cost.
Whatever your individual set of needs/desires, we can help you find the
right product for your unique travel needs. Our cost estimates are based on a number of assumptions that may or may not apply to your situation and you should expect the actual Operator bids to vary. You can expect to pay a surcharge if you require a backup aircraft. The advantage is that you will have greater assurance that the flight can be performed. If your trip is a high priority time sensitive event you may want the added assurance of a backup aircraft.
