To determine the best airport for your trip you will
want to consider some of these factors. 1. How far must I drive to the departure and
from the destination airports? 2. What will traffic be like during the time I
plan to travel? 3. Will I be driving toward or away from my
ultimate destination on the way to and from the
airport? You may save money and time if you
choose the airport of destination that is closest to your
departure airport by minimizing the air distance
traveled. This is one of the major advantages of charter over the
scheduled airline hub and spoke system so take full advantage of
it. 4. What are the facilities like at each
airport? Click the airport identifier in the info bubble and
you'll be shown all the important information about that
airport. 5. Which airports are suitable for air taxi operations? Our map function incorporates easy to find information about each airport to include the number of air taxi operations flown in the last year. This may be a good indicator of that airport's suitability for air taxi operations. If an airport reports no air taxi operations you may want to do some more research before listing that airport as your departure or destination airport. Aviation landing facilities can be classified in several ways: they can be Airports, Heliports, Gliderports, UltraLight, balloonport, STOLport (Short TakeOff and Landing) or Seaplane base. They can also be for public or private use. Most military bases are classified as private, but not all of them. In our map function we show the classifications of the landing facilities so you will know whether it is available for air taxi operations. If there is a private airport you really want to fly into you may be able to get special permission by asking. You should discuss this with a professional before making plans to fly into a private airport. Most private airfields have short or unimproved runways and may not be suitable for many aircraft. They also may lack firefighting and safety equipment that are mandatory at public airports. Charterers are welcome to select more than one airport
for their departure or destination for each leg. But make sure
that you are willing fly to or from each of the airports selected as
the operators bidding on your travel request will select only one
departure airport and one destination airport for each leg of the trip. 6. Which airports are efficient for the operator? Generally speaking the aircraft operator's flight schedule will be most efficient if they fly out of their home base airport because they won't need to reposition the aircraft. However, there are many factors which influence the prices they quote that are hidden from even the most seasoned travelers. Our concept is to give the operator some choices and let them determine, based on the many variables that affect their operation, which airport is "best" for them. After the Charterer has determined which airports best suit their needs the travel request, containing all of the airports from which they would be willing to fly, is sent to eligible operators . These operators can then choose which airports are "best" for them. The bid received by the Requester will be for only
one departure and one destination per leg. The landing
facilities should be one of those that were selected as acceptable to
the client but in some cases the requested airport may be unsuitable
for landing. In this case the operator will likely choose a nearby
airport that is more suitable. You can always call the operator
to discuss their reasons for selecting one airport over another and
make your own determination of the acceptability of any added
inconvenience. This method of selection allows both the traveler
and the aircraft operator to select the most efficient airport for
their own unique set of variables to reduce wasted motions and increase
overall efficiency. The end result is less driving, shorter
flights and less waste; all without compromising safety, comfort
or convenience. |
